Cook bacon in large skillet till crisp. Drain, crumble and set aside. Cook onions in about 2 tablespoons of reserved bacon drippings till tender. Stir in bacon, picante sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, and cumin, and sprinkle with a pinch of garlic powder. Add beans and bring to boil.
Panfry, broil, grill or bake hamburger patties till golden brown on both sides. Spread with the following mixture. (This topping is for 4 burgers. It may be warmed but do not bring to boil or yogurt will separate.)
Rinse steaks and pat dry. Sprinkle both sides with coarse black pepper and press into meat. Loosely cover with plastic wrap and leave at room temperature for 20 minutes. Sprinkle salt over bottom of heavy skillet on high heat.
